A Note from the Founder - Deepti
I was a little girl growing up in a small town in Surat, Gujarat — one of many siblings and cousins, where playtime meant sharing books, toys, and ideas long before I understood what “sharing economy” meant. I just knew it felt good.
Over the years, life took me across cities and countries. I grew up in a business family, and somewhere along the way, a quiet dream took root: I wanted to build something of my own one day.
Moving to Dubai changed everything for me. It taught me independence, responsibility, and showed me just how much is possible when a city believes in opportunity the way this one does. Somewhere in that journey, my old fascination with toys and childhood came rushing back — the way a single toy can hold a child’s whole world, and how much joy lives in that.
I also carried something else with me from school — the three R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle. I never burst crackers on Diwali. I celebrated Environment Day like it mattered, because it did. Those small lessons stayed with me far longer than I expected, and they quietly shaped the person I became.
Green Giraffe is my way of bringing those two threads together: my love for children, and my responsibility toward the planet they’ll inherit. A toy and book library isn’t a grand gesture. It’s a small, honest contribution — less clutter, less waste, more joy, shared a little more wisely.
I won’t pretend I’ve had it all figured out. Life has tested me in ways I didn’t always expect, and I’ve had to find my footing more than once. But every step of that journey has only strengthened my belief that we grow best when we grow together — parents, children, and communities, all learning to share, reuse, and care for one another and this planet a little better.
This is still just the beginning. I dream of taking Green Giraffe further, of reaching more families across the UAE, and of raising a generation of children who see sustainability not as a lesson, but as a way of life.
None of this would be possible without the families who’ve trusted us, the friends who’ve believed in me, and the team that shows up with heart every single day. Thank you for being part of this story — it truly belongs to all of us.
